"A citizen up in Laurel Canyon. On Wonderland. He just called up and said his dog came back from a run in the woods with a bone in its mouth. The guy said it's human - an arm bone from a kid." Bosch almost groaned. There were four or five call outside like this a year. Hysteria always followed by simple explanation: animal bones.

Very good mystery/detective tale about finding bones of 12 year old boy 20 years after being murdered.

I adore the Bosch books, but this is my least favorite. Well written, as always, but the plot was not my favorite. I especially didn't like Officer Brasher's storyline at all. Not one little bit. From beginning to end, that storyline was wrong.

I didn't like the ending, either. So sad, because there was a lot of potential to this book. ( )

I'm working through the Harry Bosch novels from the beginning and City of Bones is easily the best of the bunch up to the point in which it was published. The character of Bosch is really starting to evolve. The story is excellent. Although the time frame of the book was relatively short, you felt the time drag for the characters as the delays and obstacles mounted up. I really, really enjoyed this one and I understand why it was one of the novels on which the first season of Bosch was based. ( )

City of Bones is a thriller book that takes twists and turns in Los Angeles. A brutally murdered boy was discovered accidentally by a locating a human femur bone. It is with only the bone that Harry Bosch must discover who the person was and what happened. The characters and settings are all believable. Four stars were awarded to this well written story. ( )
