The only problem I would have with this book is that it really is a book for someone setting up home for the first time but all the recipies are family sized. Would have been a bit better if there was a bit more about reducing/increasing recipies for the beginner, overall though not a bad book that is a little less bland than most. New to Cooking is an exciting first book for people who love good food and want to know how to cook it. Starting with The Kitchen - what tools you need and what ingredients to keep on stand-by - Lesley Waters takes you through the essential techniques from boiling and poaching to braising and baking. The second half the book - The Recipes - puts the techniques into practice, with wonderful, modern recipes, from Honeyed Duck with Mango Salsa to Hot Chocolate Fondue. Lesley makes cooking simple, fun and liberating. This is the ideal book for new cooks of any age: there is no fuss and no mystery, just great food. No library descriptions found. |
