This picture book biography traces the life of artist Marc Chagall through his biographical paintings. Starting in Russia, we transcend through time and place with text that provides a starting point for reading into the paintings. The viewer is presented with beautiful reproductions of Chagall's work, and will find it difficult to turn the page! The text politely takes a back seat to the reproductions, allowing for an enjoyable introduction to the artist. Photos of the artist and his family are interspersed with text that is presented in a variety of colors. The end pages include a more thorough chronological biography of the artist's life and a listing of the paintings found in the book that include title, creation date and current location of the piece. A must for art libraries and K-12 school libraries. ( )
