This work is not a major critical commentary and needs itself to be read critically, but at the same time it can enrich its reader with plenty of insights into the post-exilic view of the world of Israel and Judah in the post-Davidic pre-exilic period.

Hens-Piazza offers many useful insights into several parts of the Books of Kings, but overall her commentary is too inconsistent and uneven for me to recommend its use on its own. One should consult it only as an adjunct to other commentaries that are written for the same general audience and that address literary, theological, and historical issues in more detail.
