It both looses and gains in this translation. Because novella two grew by leaps and bound compared to novella one, while graphic novel two is kind of on par with graphic novel one. The vibrancy and color was lovely though and the story works so well with some aesthetics everywhere, all the color that the author is rarely needing to fill in to his gritty, glorious stories. So I'm definitely. But I loved seeing the The Spider in all her tiny Glory, and Egg continues to convey so much with just his looks and posture, which the books can only hint at so many times. And Dunk, while he looked naive and confused in the first graphic novel, in the second looks so old and beleaguered I felt bad for him. So this one is a lot of toss up for me. Hopefully they'll keep graphic novel-ing these tales. Typically, I find the second book of a trilogy to be the least impressive. Yet, in this instance, I enjoyed Book 2 the most. It’s a bit of a slow start, but once it gets going, it’s highly entertaining. The plot has a good blend of humour and pathos, action and contemplation, resulting in an engaging narrative. The author’s skill makes you see and feel what’s happening in this fantasy world that feels inspired by real medieval history. All characters are vividly portrayed, with the main two – Dunk and Egg – being very likable. I particularly enjoyed the subtle love interest between Dunk and Lady Rohanne Webber. no reviews | add a review
