Brilliant wit with acute observation in a very readable prose. Clive at his best - I am envious of a press that employs such talent in a column, Our USA newspapers no longer have such talent even in the editorial section.
The author's other works are equally enjoyable.

Epigraph
Then, forehead against the pane, I suddenly feel
The longing open-armed behind the bone
To drown myself in other worlds, to steal
All lives, all times, all countries not my own.
