Cute story. I tried a couple of the recipes and they were good too. ( )

This time out, Hannah Swensen is trying to figure out why Moishe, her cat, is acting strange. He had become over active and destructive. Normally he was a mellow, always hungry, loving fellow.

While this is going on on her home front, the big event is the big family reunion her business partner, Lisa, has arranged. Newlywed Lisa has organized a multi-generational reunion of hers and her husband, Herb's family. What really sets it off is the appearance of her Uncle Gus. Gus had left town, years ago, without any explanation and no one knew where he had gone. The family was delighted Gus showed up. Now they would get some answers.

There was one problem with Gus's return, someone didn't want him there and solved the problem. Once again Hannah finds a body; and has a long list of suspects to work through.

Keeping up with supplying dishes for the weekend event, learning of scandals that run through the families' histories, and trying to see what is making Moishe act weird makes for a busy schedule for Hannah.

There are also quite a few recipes to be found in the book. Not just cookies, as usual, but some picnic dishes too. I've yet to try any, but I do find that I at least skim them.

This is a cozy series and the main characters are becoming old friends. ( )

Carrot cake murder by Joanne Fluke
A reunion of Lisas relatives and when the whole clan gets together for the photo one uncle is missing. Hannah puts the clues together with help from her family and friends as they question everybody as to where they were at the time of the murder and discovering who and why they'd want the uncle dead.
Love the recipes during the chapters but she has to be careful as others might want her dead also.
Love this series and the dentist Norman and cop Mike wanting her to be their girlfriend.
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device). ( )

Although the mystery was good, it was a bit of a disappointment in the end. Regardless, the story was quite good and held my interest. I love the characters in this series. ( )

Between baking up a storm for The Cookie Jar and unravelling the mystery of her cat Moishe's recent strange behaviour, Hannah Swensen has a lot on her plate. No one has heard from Gus in twenty-five years. Uncle Gus is immediately the hit of the reunion. He's almost as popular as Hannah's scrumptious carrot cake, which is also Gus' favourite dessert. But the next morning, as the whole family gathers for the group photo, one person is missing. Hannah offers to track down Uncle Gus, but her search leads to a shocking find. Over by the bar at the pavilion, she spots two slices of her infamous carrot cake, frosting-side down on the floor - and Gus' corpse with an ice pick jutting out of his chest! Now Hannah's got to sift through a long list of suspects to find a killer - even if it could mean a recipe for her own demise...
