Its a bit dated now, 15-some years later. The first chapters about the ice ages are well-written and interesting. The next few about the National Center for Atmospheric Research are less so. The narrative gets bogged down in the specifics of late-80s computers and climate modelling without giving us a bigger picture of how these technical details affect how we understand climate. In a number of places the author falls into science evangelizing, which is boring and a little condescending for those readers who simply want to learn more about climatology, not be sold on why the methods of science are important.
