I liked this book for two reasons. The first reason I liked this book was because of the humor it includes. For example, the main character is a hedgehog that cannot seem to get a fallen apple of his back. The second reason I liked this book was because it represents friendship. For example, when the hedgehog cannot get the apple of his back, his friends try their best to help him. The big idea of this book is that friends are always there in times of need. The hedgehogs' friends helped him and showed true friendship ( )

Summary: Hedgehog is about to settle into his nest for the winter when an apple falls from a tree and lands on her back. Try as she might, she can't get it off. Her friends try and help, but their suggestions only end in there being more and more things accumulated on her back. She grows more and more distressed, but finally she runs into Goat, who thinks she's brought him lunch. She is overjoyed, and tells him to eat it all. The goat does, leaving Hedgehog free of it all and able to run home and settle into the nest.
Genre Critique: This is an example of fantasy because the animals talk and reason like humans, and the events could never really happen. However, it is a cute story that causes readers to focus on things besides the fact that it could never happen.
Style: The author uses a lot of onomatopoeia which makes for a fun read that kids find more enjoyable.

The book Apple Trouble is about a hedgehog who is trying to fit into her nest; however, an apple gets stuck to her back. Every time she tries to get someone to help her get it off something else gets stuck to her. Until she runs into a goat how eats everything off so that she can fit into her nest without a problem. An author page I found is http://www.wordpool.co.uk/ap/scamell.htm I like this website because it give interesting information about the author that children might find interesting as well.

Summary: In this book the animals are living in their natural habitats and doing things that normal animals do but they are also talking and giving suggestions to their friend as he is preparing for winter, and things keep falling on him and sticking to him.
