This book shows the emotion of fear and sadness yet also show Alfie using his problem solving as well as learning to call for help from his neighbors.

In this book a little boy goes grocery shopping with his mom. When they get home mom unlocks the door and goes to the car to get the groceries. The little boy runs inside and wants to be the first person to get in the house and he locks the door. The mom does not have the keys to unlock the door. He does not know how to open the door. Everyone in the neighborhood come together to help get the door open so the mom can get to her little boy.

Alfie closes himself from his mother and sister mistakenly. He grew afraid as he tried to find a way to open the door that separated them. He finally successfully retrieves a chair and accomplishes unlocking the door on his own, feeling very proud of himself for doing so.
