Leo Lionni creates a wonderful story with a great depiction of the way colors blend. Little blue and little yellow are friends they have many friends of different colors. The colors play together often and then one day little blue and little yellow hugged and created a new color, little green. The little greens go off to their parents who do not believe they are their children since they are no longer blue and yellow. They were able to make their parent's see that it was them by turning themselves back to their original color.
I have always enjoyed sharing this book when talking about blending colors. I think it gives a very clear depiction of the way that these 2 color mix. I believe this book will give students a memorable visual of blue and yellow making green. ( )

Little Blue and Little Yellow is a great story to teach kids about primary and secondary colors. Little Blue and Little Yellow are best friends and love playing together. One day they hug and hug and hug until they realize that they turned green. When they go home, their families don't recognize them so Little Blue and Little Yellow cry so hard until they turn back to their colors. Their families realize what happened and are so happy that they hug; turning green. This is a great story to teach students about not only colors, but friendship and acceptance as well. ( )

Lio Lionni's stories always teach children very valuable lessons. This story is about little blue and his best friend is little yellow. One day little blue goes to look for little yellow. When he finds him he hugs him and they turn green. When they go home their families are sad they aren’t blue or yellow anymore and that makes little blue and little yellow cry. They cry so hard that they turn back to blue and yellow. They go back to their families and the families hug both little blue and little yellow. When this happens they see that they turn green and understand what happened. I use this story for teach children about friendship but also colors. ( )
