The fourth Sandra Boynton and Michael Ford songbook (with musical CD) is probably my least favorite. It mostly harkens back to the music of the 1950s and '60s, playing around with doo-wop, rockabilly, blues, vocalists, and even marching band music, and features musical performances by the likes of Brian Willson, Neil Sedaka, Steve Lawrence, and Sha Na Na. My favorite tracks are "One Shoe Blues" by B. B. King, "Big Band Sound" by John Ondrasik, and "Rabbit Tango" by Patti LuPone. All the tracks are very listenable, but those are the three that I've rated highest so they come up regularly in my music mix. The Uninvited Loud Precision Band doesn't give us great music, but they create a running joke that pays off nicely in the end. ( )

This is my favorite of the three Sandra Boynton book and CD sets we have tried. As with all of them, the lyrics are catchy and sweet and the illustrations are spot-on. The jukebox-style songs are a lot of fun and who doesn't like an Uninvited Loud Precision Band or want a Personal Penguin of their own?

Both my 4 and 8 year old love the silliness, and I enjoy listening to it also. We've had it in the car for 8 months now and they still ask for it pretty frequently. ( )

This kind of music is not my bag but I totally understand the appeal of it. The songs are sometimes silly, always fun and upbeat. I bet I would have loved this stuff as a kid. One of the themes of this CD is an Uninvited Parade that seems to “interrupt” the CD. There are also some amazing performers on the CD. Brian Wilson, Sha Na Na, Neil Sedaka, Bobby Vee, B. B. King, and Davy Jones all sing Boynton’s songs. ( )
