Memoir of a non-Quaker woman who marries a Quaker man just before World War II. He becomes a conscientious objector and is assigned to work in a psychiatric hospital for his Civilian Public Service. She follows him and works in the hospital as an attendant and social worker, which is harrowing at times, though she manages to gain something of an inner peace. Her writing is a bit awkward at times, but it's an interesting book and a quick read. ( )
