Book description

Brussels undoubtedly deserves the title of Capital of Art Nouveau architecture. Between the hotel Tassel, the first Art Nouveau house built by Victor Horta in 1893, and the Stoclet House, a masterpiece of Joseph Hoffmann ends shortly before the outbreak of World War I, Brussels saw the building of some 500 houses or Art Nouveau facades currently cataloged. This guide provides four circuits to discover the essence of this exceptional. The first three walks (the Louise district, the Etanges of Ixelles, the Square Ambiorix and the surrounding area) can be done on foot in half a day each. The fourth walk, covering several old, can be reached by car or be split into several visits on foot. ■ Author: Louis Meers ■ Editions Racine, Brussels, 1996 ■ Soft cover, 182 pages ■ 230 x 165 x 10 mm, 500 gr.
