A long hot summer on Tobacco Road in North Carolina leads to a steamy liaison and a calculated murder. By the end of the summer, Roxy Walston has discovered that she has a self she never knew about, and has determined to let it "out of jail" by making her own decisions and not looking to others to steer her along a pre-determined path. The story may not be original, but the style and manner of telling it is, and I enjoyed this little gem a lot.
