Peabody is a stuffed bear. He is given to a little girl named Ann. Peabody is very happy with Ann. he is happy and feels alive. He and Ann do lots of things together like plant gardens, go to the beach, and have birthday parties, and go skying. However a year later something goes wrong for Peabody. Ann gets a beautiful mechanised doll for her birthday. The doll's name is Rita. According to Peabody Rita ruins everything and Peabody eventually ends up forgotten on a shelf and doesn't fell quite as alive anymore. He feels very sleepy.
Then Ann's little brother ruins Rita by giving her a bath and Ann plays with Peabody again and he is happy once again and sings to the moon.
Review:
I thought this was really cute book. I loved the way the author portrayed the bear. His feeling were so real. For example how he was excited about his birthday and how he sung to the moon because he was happy. It lent the book a touch of grandeur. The author did a really good job incorporating real life situations from the perspective of the Toy bear. I loved the way the author incorporated the bear's feelings of abandonment ( he felt sleepy and less alive). Overall a great book to share with children. ( )
