Cedar Cove, Washington

Dear Reader,

I'm pretty shocked by something I've just heard. Emily Flemming is afraid that her husband, Dave, might be having an affair. She apparently found an earring in his pocket--and it wasn't hers. And she says he's been coming home late and acting secretive. Not only that, some jewelry was recently stolen from an old woman, and Dave (in his capacity as pastor) used to visit her a lot....

This is all so hard to believe! Dave's a good pastor and a good man. He and Emily appear to have the perfect life, with their children, Matthew and Mark, and their lovely home at 8 Sandpiper Way. But I guess things aren't always as they seem. Reader, I'd love to hear what you think, and so does Emily.

I have some personal news, too--it's turning out to be a challenging year. But there are also some interesting updates about our friends in Cedar Cove. Like Sheriff Troy Davis, to mention one. Guess what? His long-ago love, Faith Beckwith, has just moved back here!

Hope you'll join Emily and me for a cup of tea soon.

Olivia

What I believe is the penultimate book in the Cedar Cove series, this is perhaps not the most emotionally deep book of the series.

This is set during the lead up to Christmas - Olivia has cancer and has just had her operation ahead of chemo. As a result, there is none of the divorce settlement proceedings evident in the early stories.

The local Pastor is keeping secrets from his wife, which leads her to
suspect he's having an affair - and everyone else to think he's a thief. it turns out that they have over extended themselves when buying their new house and are now in negative equity, so cannot sell the house to cover their debts. The Pastor has taken on a second (security) job, which is why he is coming home late.

The Art gallery is under new ownership. People are mourning those who have died in the last year. Weddings are arranged (but not held in this book), babies are announced, romances are started and as often halted.....

Some things are completed, some are started, some are left open for another time. The primary story - the pastor and his wife - seems to finish rather early during the book and a litle to tritely. It almost seems to ge a holding pattern for the next book to finish up. Not my favourite of the series ( )

Cedar Cove series continues with this book focusing on Pastor Flemming who turns out to have financial problems he's hiding from his wife, not an affair, but someone has framed him in some jewelry disappearances, Tanni, a HS girl takes up with Shaw & they discover a dead body, and Bobby's driver is not who he seemed and takes off for parts unknown, and Bobby's wife is pregnant with triplets. Just a little going on in town! ( )

Did not have much action or story plot that really grabbed me. Nice to find out life is good for chess player Bobby with his wife Terri’s pregnancy. Surprised that her sister and James the driver is left unsettled. Knew that Dave the pastor, wasn’t guilty of stealing the watch because it was mentioned in an earlier book but surprised at who was. Sheriff Dave and his reluctance with Faith to be honest about his love for her got tiring. Bones of a man found in cave going to be next mystery.

For some reason didn't care for this one as well as some in the series. Still a great series to read. ( )
