Pensare che questo testo e' stato scritto nel 1974 ha dell'incredibile. L'ambiente sembra sia stato disegnato dopo qualche anno da Manara nelle Avventure di Giuseppe Bergman. E quel monastero esiste davvero, in Sicilia. O quantomeno uno che gli assomiglia moltissimo: ci sono arrivato per caso, e l'ho fotografato, parecchi anni fa.
S. è una persona che faremmo parlare per ore, con quella cadenza sicula e netta, fatta di sottintesi e saggezza. Una bolla fuori dal mondo, questo testo, raccontato con intelligenza e cultura. ( )

It's been so long since I read this piece that all but the most fleeting memories of it have vanished from my mind. As far as crime/detective fiction goes, it is a reasonable read, and breaks through many genre barriers. It is not poorly written, and would be well-received by someone looking for something a little different. ( )

Questo romanzo giallo metafisico di Sciascia (scritto tra l’altro magistralmente, come diranno Ì futuri critici letterari ad usum Delphini, perché Todo modo è destinato a entrare nella storia letteraria del Novecento come uno dei migliori libri di Sciascia) è anche, credo, una sottile metafora degli ultimi trent’anni di potere democristiano, fascista e mafioso, con un'aggiunta finale di cosmopolitismo tecnocratico (vissuta però solo dal capo, non dalla turpe greggia alla greppia). Si tratta di una metafora profondamente misteriosa, come ricostituita in un universo che elabora fino alla follia i dati della realtà.
