Eugenia Chastain has ended her London season without receiving a single proposal. While visiting an aunt in Kent, she meets her neighbor the Marquess of Bradford. Bradford has not seen his mother and twin brother since his parents split up when he was a child. He has grown up to be emotionally remote, but Eugenia has a charm that appeals to him.
