The book focuses on one boy and his room as it transforms and different creatures come out. This book is great for elementary age students. I am not sure if I would have this in my future classroom. A really amazing childrens book, Where the Wild Things Are follows a young boy named Max who creates a whole imaginary world for himself in his mind. Near the end of the book he realizes the importance of the real world and his family. I would say that this book is a perfect read for kids around the ages of 5-7 Maurice Sendak wrote this book about discipline and behavior. This book teaches young children that although sometimes we feel like being wild in the home its best to love the home and its rules. Max gets sent to his room without supper. He uses his imagination to create a magical land filled with wild things. This book enhances the Childrens imagination and creativity skills because it explore the fictional world and helps them express themselves through story telling. AwardsNotable Lists
