This is a very creative book. I remember reading this as a kid. The book focuses on one boy and his room as it transforms and different creatures come out. This book is great for elementary age students. I am not sure if I would have this in my future classroom.

A really amazing childrens book, Where the Wild Things Are follows a young boy named Max who creates a whole imaginary world for himself in his mind. Near the end of the book he realizes the importance of the real world and his family. I would say that this book is a perfect read for kids around the ages of 5-7

When I first heard of this story, I wasn’t at all expecting it be what it is. But it was a fun read and imagery and plot of the story was fun and fantasy filled. Great story that all the little ones love! ( )

Maurice Sendak wrote this book about discipline and behavior. This book teaches young children that although sometimes we feel like being wild in the home its best to love the home and its rules. Max gets sent to his room without supper. He uses his imagination to create a magical land filled with wild things. This book enhances the Childrens imagination and creativity skills because it explore the fictional world and helps them express themselves through story telling. ( )

First words
The night Max wore his wolf suit and made mischief of one kind and another his mother called him “WILD THING!” and Max said “I’LL EAT YOU UP!” so he was sent to bed without eating anything.
Quotations
... and an ocean tumbled by with a private boat for Max and he sailed off through night and day and in and out of weeks and almost over a year to where the wild things are.
And when he came to the place where the wild things are they roared their terrible roars and gnashed their terrible teeth and rolled their terrible eyes and showed their terrible claws ...
... till Max said, “BE STILL!” and tamed them with the magic trick of staring into all their yellow eyes without blinking once and they were frightened and called him the most wild thing of all and made him king of all wild things.
“And now,” cried Max, “let the wild rumpus start!”
