When looking at classics this is one of the first one many people read. And for good reason. Shakespeare wrote a great tale of a love triangle, a fun-loving fae, and fae-king in love, and one night of errors ending well. Although I'm of the opinion that what happens off-page is a little dirtier than what happens on page.

I know a lot of people who started with Romeo and Juliet and got turned off... I wish they'd give it another shot. This play is fantastic. ( )

Reread for the... fourth time? Not sure, but it's such a good play to revisit. Helena, Puck, and Bottom make this whole play, is2g. Almost wish it was longer because the setting is so great. ( )

I read this to familiarize myself with the play before I see it this summer. I'd somehow gotten away with not reading it in college, even though I was an English major.
I can't wait to see this performed. I laughed more while reading this than I have at any of his other plays. I'm already imagining the visual comedy American Players Theatre will add to the already funny lines.
Lots of fun! ( )

his is not my favourite Shakespeare play, but it does have a fair number of quotes I do use. A number of Athenian tradesmen are rehearsing a playt to be presented at the marriege of theseus and Hippolita when they become enmeshed with the court of Obernon, the king of the fairies. Hi-jinks ensue. ( )

Epigraph
Dedication
First words
Now, fair Hippolyta, our nuptial hour
Draws on apace; four happy days bring in
Another moon: but, O, methinks, how slow
This old moon wanes!
Quotations
Ay me! for aught that I could ever read,
Could ever hear by tale or history,
The course of true love never did run smooth;
I never heard
So musical a discord, such sweet thunder.
I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,
Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows,
Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,
With sweet musk-roses, and with eglantine;
There sleeps Titania sometime of the night,
Lull'd in these flowers with dances and delight;
And there the snake throws her enamell'd skin,
Weed wide enough to wrap a fairy in;
If we shadows have offended,
Think but this, and all is mended,
That you have but slumb'red here
While these visions did appear.
And this weak and idle theme,
No more yielding but a dream,
Gentles, do not reprehend.
If you pardon, we will mend.
Lord, what fools these mortals be!

Book description
Shakespeare writes a Comedy about mythical creatures tampering with human affairs. In this crazy scenario, lovers are crossed and confusion happens and it is all a result of some fairies in the woods on a midsummer night. I really enjoyed this Shakespeare play because it was humorous and outrageous and extremely well crafted and intense and ridiculous all at the same time.
