This book follows Dexter the dragon. This young dragon learns how to make a lot of smoke. He starts to show off his new skill to his friends. But his friends can’t blow smoke and soon they all leave Dexter alone. Finally Dexter learns how to be a good friend. ( )

Hm. Library discovery, read an old edition, not sure if the illustrations were McCue's. Liked the original animals (I've gotten bored of the omni-present barnyard animals). The ending (and moral) was predictable from the title, though, unfortunately. ( )

A young dragon named Dexter discovers one day that he is finally breathing out hot smoke. He is so excited that he starts showing off in front of everyone. Well all his friends get jealous and tired of his skills that they don't want to be around Dexter anymore. Dexter gets very sad but then discovers he has a talent that people can enjoy, making popcorn!
