I was a too loud kid, so I really love this book because Lily finally finds a place where being loud is an asset. ( )

This book is about Lily who likes to be loud. She is constantly being told that she is too loud. All the activities she wants to participate in require her to be quiet. She finally finds an activity where she can be as loud as she wants. I think this book is good for children to see what their interests are. Like Lily tried many activities until she found the right one. This book also shows children that there is a right time and place to be loud.

This is a great book for young children. We can all be too loud sometimes and this book deals with just that. Everyone is always telling Lily Hippo that she is too loud everywhere she goes. Everyone always knows when she is around, when she is at home she wakes the baby and when she is at school she gets her friends in trouble. Then a new teacher shows up at school, Ms. Loopiola, who teaches music and drama that helps her discover that there is a time and place for everything.

Comprehensive Strategy: Think-A-Loud-
At the end of the book the teacher can start a conversation about appropriate places it’s okay to be loud and places it’s not okay to be loud. ( )

Book description
Lily Hippo is too loud. She sings too loudly, she laughs too loudly, and everyone knows when she is around. At home, she wakes the baby. At school, she gets her friends into trouble. She can't help it. Then one day, a new teacher, Miss Loopiola, comes to school to teach music and drama, and Lily finds there is a time and a place for her special talent. When the school play rolls around, Lily is a shining star. Kerry Argent's warm, inviting illustrations and Sofia Laguna's humorous text will have children and parents applauding for Lily.

Annotation
