The main character Ellen has a best friend Ollie that love the apple tree that grows in Ellen's backyard. They play around the tree all year long. The book goes through each season and the changes the tree develops and why it's good for many reasons. For example-- in the summer it's a perfect little secrete hideout for Ellen and Ollie to be "spies." In the fall, the tree has delicious apples for them to munch on. Good for a lesson about seasons. This book is about an two children an apple tree that not only grows delicious apples, but is used a primary source of adventure. The illustrations are soft and depicts the everyday life and involvement the tree has in everyone's life until it is destroyed by a winter's storm. This book would be great for use in science. It would show the children what happens when nature collides. no reviews | add a review
