Meh, it was okay. Frankly, the last chapter is the only reason I would recommend this book. However, bits of information in the book are useful in a tabletop RPG context (and that justifies my decisions concerning "scything" as Gamesmaster in my Dice & Glory Zombie Horror games prior to reading it). I will try to read its follow-up World War Z on the strength of the last chapter alone. I would only recommend this one if you found it like I did, for a buck in a thrift store. Although it was an easy read. ( )

Not into Zombies but I do love this book by Max Brooks.

I don't understand why this is shelved in the humor section. It takes its subject very seriously. I suppose they didn't quite want to put it with the science fiction, though considering it's from the author (and takes place in the world) of World War Z, that would make more sense. Anyway, this is quite a detailed book, both in terms of surviving various situations and in a sampling of attacks. If you really want an immersive experience in the world after the solanum virus pandemic, this book is for you. But don't expect jokes. ( )

This book really writes like it's a survival guide for Zombies. Early on, I realized it was not a satire, so I was not expecting anymore to be amused.

But hey, at least I'm ready if zombies attack! :) ( )

I received this book as a gift. I would have never purchased this book on my own. I just assumed it was a lame attempt to cash in on the recent popularity of zombies. Rather than being just a silly parody, it almost reads like a highly conceptual novel. This book is definitely a worthy diversion from your more "serious" reading. ( )
