I think this book tells children not to be themselves, although, there are situations where parents may not acknowledge the fact that their child may still have interests out of their age group. I really do not have much to say about this book. It was not a good pick for me. ( ) "A Cool Kid - Like Me!" by Hans Wilhelm teaches that looks can be deceiving. In the story, a boy is deemed cool because he paints the best pictures, he brushed his teeth, and he had friends to play with. On the inside, the boy is not happy at all. His parents argue, don't talk sometimes, they ignore him, and all he has is his grandmother to talk to. His grandmother goes away and gives his a teddy bear to keep him company while she was away. The teddy bear does just that and helps him feel better. I think this book can be good for people of all ages. People can learn to not make assumptions and understand that everyone is fighting their own battles. Looks can be deceiving. Children can also learn that it is good to talk to someone about whatever they are going through because someone understands, someone has been in the same shoes and someone is always willing to listen and help. A young boy is strong from the outside, but he has his own fears. His grandmother knows all about how scared he was and how he felt. This book is a good suggestion for parents to understand their own children. Especially, parents should not let your children see that you're fighting with your wife or your husband. no reviews | add a review
