A magic stone helps Mallory and Jared see creatures and rescue Simon. 00006961 00006960 Once again, this is a wonderfully presented book. The illustrations are lovely and inserted very well with the text. I found the story more interesting than the one in the first book, too. It was a lot darker More engaging than the first, having gotten farther into the fantasy stuff. The illustrations are the same quality, and so is the writing. Yet, this series seems composed more of chapters than books. Each one is only around 100 pages and each page is rather short. So in all, this "chapter" is a bit more interesting than the last.
