The chasm between the biblical vision of marriage and the common human conception is---nad has always been---enormous. Some cultures in history respect the importance and the permanence of marriage more than others. Some, like the twenty-first century Western worl, have such low, causal, take-it-or-leave it attitudes toward marriage as to make the biblical vision seem ludicrous to most people. Marriage is a momentary but glorius gift. It is more than a husband's and wife's love for each other---vastly more. Its meaning is infinitely great: the display of the covenent-keeping love between Jesus and his people. This Momentary Marriage unpacks the biblical vision, is unexpected contours, and its weighty implications for married, single, divorced, and remarried alike.
