One of the reasons that I decided to do the work of this book was so that the beginning trapper would have a valuable tool at his or her disposal; a tool that would help them get started in the right direction. That's why I have included chapters on where to find furbearers, traps and equipment, trap line safety, sets and techniques, and snaring as well as a chapter on record keeping. There are many books on the market today, most of which are informative and well written, but geared toward the experienced trapper. Although this work is leaning toward the beginning trapper, I believe that any trapper, young or old, can benefit from the information herein. You're never too young or too old to learn something new. After over a quarter-century running traps, each new day on the line still brings with it new and valuable information. My hope is to pass along this information to you. The real hope of becoming a successful trapper is not hope at all, but knowledge, knowledge that is not only gained by running your own trap line, but knowledge that is passed down from others who are willing to share their experiences.
