Humoristický román českého spisovatele Jaroslava Haška přeložený do 58 jazyků, několikrát zfilmovaný i zdramatizovaný. Jde o nejvýznamnější Haškovo dílo, mnoha lidmi spojované s kongeniálními ilustracemi Josefa Lady. Smrt bohužel nedovolila Haškovi jeho dílo dokončit.

Jednotlivé díly románu mají tyto názvy:

* Velký výprask (1922),
* Pokračování velkého výprasku (1923)

Dobrý voják Švejk je jedna z nejznámějších a nejoblíbenějších postav nejen české, ale i světové literatury. Svědčí o tom spolu s četnými vydáními doma a v zahraničí také skutečnost, že se z díla stala v pravém slova smyslu klasika, která se neustále čte a cituje. Možná bychom mohli mluvit i o součásti naší národní povahy, ať už v dobrém nebo pejorativním smyslu. Švejk, hostinský Palivec, polní kurát Katz, nadporučík Lukáš, sapér Vodička, Baloun a další postavičky nadále žijí svým životem.

Teil: Als Schwejk, der infolge seiner russischen Uniform irrtümlicherweise für einen russischen Kriegsgefangenen gehalten wurde, der aus einem Dorfe bei Feldstein entsprungen war, mit einem Kienspan seine verzweifelten Aufschreie an die Wände malte, nahm davon niemand Notiz; und als er auf dem Transport in Chyruwa einem vorübergehenden Offizier alles erzählen wollte (man teilte gerade Stücke harten Kukuruzubrotes aus), da haute einer von den ungarischen Soldaten, die den Transport bewachten, ihm eins mit dem Kolben über die Schulter mit den Worten: "Baczom az élet, gehst du zurück in die Reihe, russisches Schwein!"
