Loading... The Three Evangelists (1995)by Fred Vargas

Books Read in 2016 (2,481) No current Talk conversations about this book. Truyện hay mà dịch 3 chấm vãi. Huhu A new author (to me). I was pleasantly surprised. Quirky, humourous and enjoyable. Set in 90s Paris, but had the feel of a much earlier period. Mathias, Marc and Lucian are three historians whose characters seem to mirror the periods they specialise in. They are nicknamed the three evangelists by Marc's godfather an ex-detective. They all move into a dilapidated house and have an investigation on their hands when a neighbour goes missing after discovering a tree in her back garden. Chapeau! It was a good, somewhat quirky mystery. I did not see the twist at the end. An early Vargas (mid 1990) that is worth reading. no reviews | add a review

Did this book inspire me to do anything?
It inspired me to look up what other books have been written by this author. I will be reading of Fred Vargas's novels.
I enjoyed the setting, characters and storyline. The early chapters caught my attention and held me captive. In the middle of the book I felt there were a few character interactions that were a bit dragged out, but in general the story was entertaining and enjoyable. Clues and red-herrings were flying everywhere, and I enjoyed the French setting and atmosphere. (
