This is a deliciously thrilling collection. Each story is unique enough so they don't blend together. There are some murder mysteries, horrors, well-known faces and people with no names. Past and Future and Present all appear and no one is who they say they are. My favorites, of the 100, were Trick or Treat by Judith Garner, "Wide O-" by Elsin Ann Graffam and "The Witches in the Closet" by Anne Chamberlain. But their wasn't a story in the bunch I didn't enjoy. Highly recommend for a quick taste of mystery and macabre. ( )

I am currently still reading this, little by little... So far, I have really enjoyed the stories chosen for this collection.

They are short, but sweet for those of us who like a little mystery before bed. ( )

This anthology was first published in 1981 so all of the stories are 30 or more years old. However I didn't notice them being particularly dated. Many were straight mysteries but a fair number verged on horror and most had a twist ending. For those who like short and short short stories a very nice collection. Recommended.

My one problem with this books is, I have a hardcover, and it really doesn't fit in my purse.

Why is this a problem? This book is perfect for waiting in line, being put on hold, waiting for you boyfriend to finally be ready to go, or any other brief period of down time during the day.

Not every story is perfect. It's hard to be perfect in 5 or so pages. But, a fair number of the stories are *good.* Nothing to sink your teeth into, since they're far too short.

I keep my copy at work. Occasionally I find myself on hold for far too long, and I'd much rather read a quick story than check the local sports scores.

This book (and I'm sure similar ones), are great ways of sneaking reading into a busy day, without feeling like you're never getting a grasp on the story. ( )
