A small boy and his friend, the Moon, discover the beauty of the world after dark. “I Took The Moon For A Walk” by Carolyn Curtis & Alison Jay is a fiction book that brings the moon to life. With the rhyme scheme that the author uses, it makes it an easy read for students. The illustrations go along with the words perfectly so even a child who’s in the process of learning how to read could still comprehend the story accuratel by using the illistrations alone. This book would be a good read aloud book for early elementary school students. I Took the Moon for a Walk Summary: "I Took the Moon for a Walk" is a book about a little boy and his adventures walk with the moon. He says the moon followed behind him like a still kite. The little boy then tells the children everything that happened when he took the moon on a walk. He told the moon to rise higher so the churches pike wouldn't get him. They also tiptoed through grass, and passed the dogs of the town that made a train-whistle choir. Personal Reaction: To me this book is really cute and the kids seemed to really enjoy it. They liked to use their imagination with this book. Classroom Extensions: I would have the kids make a poster of what they would do if they took the moon on a walk. no reviews | add a review
