In Oh, Look after seeing their pin open, three goats escape on an adventure to a fair. At the fair, they encounter a troll and run back home. This book can be used in a classroom to identify the use of onomatopoeia. ( )

Patricia Polacco’s book Oh, Look! is a story about three goats that misbehave after they find a gate that keeps them safe and sound is open. As the goats explore the bridge, the hill, and even a fair their two owners run behind to try to get them back inside the gate. Polacco uses repetition and onomatopoeia through the goat’s adventures. When the goats reach the mirror at the fair they are curious to see what is behind it. To their surprise, it is a big, green ogre with sharp claws and big eyes. The goats are so terrified they run through the water, up the hill, across the bridge, and through the gate, back to their home where it is safe and sound. ( )
