Book description
"The Honourable Richard Rollison, the Toff to friend and foe alike - could quite properly be said to be a popular man, in certain circles. However those circles did not ordinarily include the underworld. There had to be some special reason for the Toff's current popularity, and there was: there seemed to be a contest as to who could murder him first!" - Bantam jacket notes.
The Toff discovers a baby lying on his couch, with a mysterious note saying "The Doc's after the kid's mother and me. If he gets a chance he'll snatch the kid." So now the Toff must chase round London, protecting the baby, stopping the Doc, and trying to find the desperate parents.
