I decided I needed to read this since we are seeing the show in San Francisco next month. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed every minute of it and when the book ended found myself wanting to read the next one. ( )

I think I read this book much too fast. I really enjoyed the story. I would love to read it again and the whole series. Dave Barry is a very humorous writer; I remember my grandparents reading his article out loud all the time. ( )

A fast-paced, impossible-to-put-down adventure awaits as the young orphan Peter and his mates are dispatched to an island ruled by the evil King Zarboff. They set sail aboard the Never Land, a ship carrying a precious and mysterious trunk in its cargo hold - and the journey quickly becomes fraught with excitement and danger. Discover richly developed characters in the sweet but sophisticated Molly, the scary but familiar Black Stache, and the fearless Peter. Treacherous battles with pirates, foreboding thunderstorms at sea, and evocative writing immerse the reader in a story that slowly and finally reveals the secrets and mysteries of the beloved Peter Pan.

Fabulous fun! I could feel the waves under the ship and smell the salt air. Peter Pan is surrounded by unforgettable characters, involved in a riveting plot, and give new life by these capable (and surprising) authors. Narrated by the magical voice of Jim Dale (of Harry Potter fame). ( )

Pearson and Barry offer a deft combination of laughter and fear -- that is, fear undergirded by a sense of final safety. It's a roller coaster of a plot in more senses than one, and considering their publisher -- Disney, with its Tinkerbell logo well displayed here -- I don't suppose that's a surprise.

Book description
In this trilling sequel for the classic Peter Pan, an orphan named Peter and his friends are going to leave on a ship called the Neverland, but his destination is unknown. The ship is also holding Molly Aster, a mysterious girl who seems to be holding secrets from Peter. The ship's crew also have a trunk that nobody seems to know much about. Nobody, that is, but Molly Aster. Suddenly, Peter's life is turned upside-down as he is thrown into a perilous battle between the secretive Starcatchers, a crew of pirates led by the cunning Black Stache and the deadly others, all for the mysterious trunk, which Peter soon finds out contains power beyond his wildest imaginings.
