As the battered earth reels under judgments from heaven, Global Community leader Nicolae Carpathia tightens the screws on anyone who refuses to proclaim total allegiance to him. He has a million of his enemies just where he wants them: massed at Petra and within striking distance of devastating firepower. Meanwhile, the Tribulation Force is compromised, forcing Rayford Steele, Buck Williams, and the others to run for their lives. ( )

Tenth in the 'Left Behind' series. Fast-moving, but once again too many characters with little personality development. Hardly any emotion other than mild fear, and I couldn't make myself care for any of the people involved. Strong Christian theme throughout. ( )

Armageddon is nearing quickly and the stage is being set for the battle against Believers and Non-believers. The Tribulation Force is working around the world to bring God's word to those still undecided in the battle of good against evil Book 10 of the Left Behind series keeps the story and mission alive! Same problem here as with their other "Left Behind" books - characters who are essentially identical to each other because they are all goody-two-shoes, refusal to actually research what the Bible says, white-washing the holes in the plot and so on, and bad guys who are annoyingly stupid. ( )

Anyone who is ten books in to a series should know what to expect and The Remnant holds no surprises. The usual structure is exaggerated in this entry, with the first half following one event, without any tension or enjoyable action, whilst the latter half picks it up a bit. The final quarter is a welcome deviation from the norm, with far less dialogue which frequently feels like filler. If the authors could have used this style across the series, it would have been six books shorter and more enjoyable for it. The Remnant is a vital stepping stone in the series however it offers very little character development and overdoes the sermons somewhat. ( )

Had Rayford not been petrified, he might have enjoyed that Tsion looked the same in the Jordan sun as he did around the Strong Building.
