It is clear why this is a Caldecott winner. The transition from night to morning is beautiful and each page caused me to hesitate just to take it all in before moving on. The story follows a paperboy and his morning routine. I like that they do not identify the boy and I think it allows more children to put themselves in his shoes. Even though paperboys rarely exist today, it's a story of responsibility and finding the joy in things.

This book is about a young paperboy and his daily routine. It goes through him and his dog getting out of bed early, going on their daily route and then climbing back into bed. While the story is simple, it shares a good message about responsibility. I think this would be a great book to share with younger kids, and I think the message would stick with them because it is a more simple book. ( )
