Is humility a Christlike attribute that should be pursued? And even if it should be, can genuine humility actually be attained? Often so practical in application that it is overlooked, the answer is found by studying the life and words of Christ (whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your slave). This little book is a loud call to all committed Christians to prove that meekness and lowliness of heart is the evidence by which those who follow the meek and lowly Lamb of God are to be known. Never mind that your initial efforts will be misunderstood, taken advantage of, or even resisted. Instead, learn from the One who came not to be ministered unto, but to serve. For a Christian to be alive, for the life of Christ to reign in and through us, we must be empty of ourselves, exchanging our life for His life, our pride for true, Christlike humility.… (more)

Excellent reading. Good length, and not overly difficult or weighed down with cumbersome words or complex sentences. As for the subject matter itself...it would do nothing but benefit readers of every age. I recommend it to every Christian reader, no matter what age or stage of life. ( )

A book on the all importance of humility, how Jesus was humble, and how we also can become humble. Murray wrote "Without humility, there can be no true abiding in God's presence or experience of His favor and the power of His spirit. Without it there can be no abiding faith or love or joy or strength." Summary by ekaitz

A must read, humility is the virtue of every true Christian. Humility is not the result of meditating on your sins, but rather it is the real glory of a creature in the presence of his Creator. ( )

When Jesus 'made himself nothing...taking the nature of a servant', He modeled for all believers true humility. Andrew Murray calls this 'our true nobility' and 'the distinguishing feature of discipleship'. With insightful, penetrating clarity, Murray calls all Christians to turn from pride, empty themselves, and study the character of Christ to be filled with His grace. Often called the best work on humility ever written, this edition has been edited for today's reader.
