In this third book Dr. David Hunter travels to the Body Farm in Tennessee for a brief reprieve from his past adventures. However, he ends up walking right into another dire situation that challenges everything he knows. It is a tale filled with lots of twists that keep the reader guessing as to what will happen next. I can't wait for the next book. 4 stars. This was an enjoyable book but I didn't manage to identify the killer! As usual the book had many twists.Whilst it was very enjoyable I did prefer the first two bokks in the series. However I look forward to completing the series very soon, although I will be sad to say goodbye to Dr David Hunter. Dr David Hunter is in Tennessee at the Body Farm trying to decide if he can continue his career in forensic anthropology. His accompanies his mentor Dr Tom Lieberman to a grisly and bizarre crime scene in the Smoky Mountains. Now they are involved in the search for a serial killer. This was a fascinating read varied in the details and with many twists and turns. I did not see the killer's face until he was unmasked. Oooh I liked it. no reviews | add a review
Skin is a work of art, a nest of capillaries, glands and nerves that both regulates and protects. It is our sensory interface with the outside world, the barrier at which our individuality - our self - ends. And even in death, something of that individuality remains...Still suffering effects of a near fatal attack, David Hunter has returned to the Body Farm in Tennessee, the world-famous facility where he learned his trade as a forensic anthropologist, desperate to prove that he's still up to the task. But while there a grisly discovery is made in a holiday cabin in the hills - a body, bound and tortured, and decomposed beyond recognition. Fingerprints found at the scene seem to identify the killer, but it soon becomes clear that nothing about this case is quite as it seems.Despite misgivings, Hunter is intrigued and agrees to help an old friend and colleague on the investigation. There are those who resent his presence, however, and Hunter begins to wonder if his entire trip hasn't been a mistake. But then a second body is found and suddenly his involvement is no longer a matter of choice. The trail left by the killer begins to point to an impossible conclusion and Hunter finds that nothing he's experienced before has prepared him for where it will lead... Lots of killing in this one, as expected from the first two. The killer seemed like he was so far ahead of his pursuers that it hard to imagine they'd ever catch him. But with a bit of luck, and David Hunter's analytical mind, they finally catch up with him, but there are a few surprises even at that late stage of the game, as you might expect if you've read the first two.
The series seems to concentrate as much on the people as the crimes. Makes it a little slower than some people like, but I enjoy it. But now I need a break from this series. Too many people dying. ( )
