After losing one of its own, Lindsay Boxer and the Women' Murder Club make a courageous return for their fourth and most chilling case ever--one that could easily be their last. A young girl is killed in crossfire after a routine arrest goes terribly wrong, and Lt. Lindsay Boxer has to defend herself against a charge of police brutality. In a landmark trial that transfixes the nation, Lindsay fights to save her career and her sanity. While awaiting trial, Lindsay escapes to the beautiful town of Half Moon Bay, but the peaceful community there is reeling from a string of unspeakable murders. There was a lot going on here. I'm not even sure what crime Sam and Sarah Cabot were being charged with. I'm sure there was some other way to get Lindsey to court or on an involuntary vacation at her sister's house. This series is definitely not my favorite, and I'm not the biggest fan of Patterson's writing in general. Lindsey's intuition is only good when it comes to crimes, not so much when picking out friends. You'd think she'd be better at reading people.

All in all, if you're already a Patterson fan, then by all means read this book and this series. However, I'd recommend Tana French, Christina Dodd, Marie Force, Ruth Ware, or Karin Slaughter instead. ( )

I have really enjoyed this womens murder club series. They are down to three members in this book and Claire and Cindy are not in this book as much but the bits we have them are nice. Most of this story takes place when Boxer is on "vacation". She is trying to solve a cold case of hers from 10 years prior. Intersting twists. The ending wasn't a total surprise to me but some of it was. Anotrher page turner by Patterson.

In this installment of the Woman's Murder Club, Lieutenant Lindsay Boxer of the SFPD faces the most challenging case of her carreer-her own trial! Labeled "Detective Harriett" by the press, and accused of being a child killer by the public, Lindsay relocates to her sister, Cat's house for some much-needed downtime before she goes to court to fight for her reputation and livelihood only to find herself caught up in the middle of multiple murders being committed in the small, ocean town of Half Moon Bay. Faced-paced, non-stop action kept me turning the pages of this well-crafted thriller that has a twist at the end you won't see coming. This was a quick, entertaining read. ( )

The Characters:

Lindsay Boxer: Police detective
Clair Washburn: Medical Examiner
Yuki Castellano: Attorney
Cindy Thomas: Crime desk reporter

The Story:

This one starts out with a bang. Literally, Lindsay is shot. This story starts out mighty sad and travels down a dark and twisty road. I think I cried more than once. I sat on the edge of my seat. I cheered, I laughed, I enjoyed it so much…even if Jill is gone. :-( I do like Yuki though, I hope she sticks around.
