Overview-
This book is a fun overview of how your body battles things that may happen to you. Children get skinned knees but how do they heal? This book explains using real pictures, animated pictures, and fun childrens talk to explain the process your body goes through to fight that skinned knee.

Personal Reaction-
I enjoyed this book becuase it was fun and becuase I even learned something new! This book can be useful to children becuase they often do not know the amazing small things their bodies do to fight away infection and heal things that happen to them.

Classroom Extension Ideas-
1. This can be read before a science lesson about your body.

2. This book can also be given to a child who has skinned their knee for them to have a fun way of seeing how their body fights back.

This book was very interesting, some parts were also funny. Some parts were a little bit gross - but not too gross. I would rather read this than my text book.Overall it was pretty good. I would want to read more in this series. ( )

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0822568144, Library Binding)

Ouch! You know that a skinned knee hurts. But did you know that it's the start of a battle? Your body has to work quickly to protect you from a germ invasion. Nerve cells sound an alarm that you're hurt. Blood cells rush in to fight germs that come in through the scrape. And skin cells make brand-new skin for your knee. Before you know it, your cells have won the battle and you're as good as new. Get a close look at this body battle with comic illustrations and ground-breaking photomicrographs. The photomicrographs magnify the actual cellular processes tens of thousands of times, offering you a front-row seat for all the action.
