Al barrio de los Carlton se han mudado unos nuevos vecinos, los Taggerty, cuyos hijos vienen precedidos de una fama de maleducados y terribles. Cuando los niños de los Carlton se acercan al muro que separa su jardín del de los Taggerty, tendrán un primer encuentro con los hijos de sus vecinos, tras el cual, tanto unos como otros decidirán no querer volver a verse nunca, opinión compartida por la Sra. Carlton. Pero el señor Carlton sorprenderá a su familia cuando, al volver a casa, empezará a alabar a los Taggerty y a comunicar a su familia que a partir de ahora sus nuevos vecinos y ellos van a relacionarse mucho ya que el Sr. Taggerty fue su mejor amigo del colegio.
