Fictional tale of 1939 Swingjugend (Swing Kids), a counter-culture during the censorship of Nazi Germany. Family and friends get caught up in opposing sides as the characters either acclimate to Nazi control or resist against it. The ending shows the consequences of courage, which isn't enough on its own to save more than a person's integrity. But who wants to be coward who sacrifices loved ones to an unjust cause?

When I saw this movie as a teenager, I deeply appreciated the honesty. Evil can spread quickly through society, destroying trust and entire lives. I wish more people at the time of its release more seriously considered the facts within the fiction. ( )
