Independent Reading Level:Level L Awards: Maryland Blue Crab Young Reader Award , Easy Fiction , 2006 SMART Book Award , Children's Book , 2012 Theodor Seuss Geisel Award , None , 2006 this is a very easy read and it talks about friendship so would be good for beginner readers. I would use this in the first few weeks of school for kinders, the reason for this is because they are easy reads and good to uplift kids. This book would be best for grades 1-2. It is about how a little boy needs a pet for the talent show and everyone claims a fly isnt a pet but he ends up winning an award A simple and cute story of a boy who goes looking for a pet and finds a friend. Great 'chapter' book for those beginning to read.
Kindergarten-Grade 2–A boy goes out searching for a smart animal to take to The Amazing Pet Show and bumps into a fly that is intelligent enough to say the childs name, Buzz. Although his parents and the judges feel at first that a fly is only a pest, not a pet, the insect puts on a performance that astounds them all and wins an award. The cartoon illustrations showing characters with exaggerated wide eyes are delightful, but the text is somewhat weak and disjointed.–Anne Knickerbocker, formerly at Cedar Brook Elementary School, Houston, TX Belongs to SeriesFly Guy (1)
