Book description
The 28th volume in the long-running series about the immortal Casca Rufio Longinus, this is the sequel to Barry Sadler's 1983 novel Casca 9: The Sentinel. Set in 6th century Constantinople, Casca returns to the city to root out and destroy the hated Brotherhood of the Lamb, but hunting the secret sect proves harder than he thought, and so he joins the racing faction the Blues, to win imperial favour and gain access to the inner chanmbers of the palace to find the heart of the Brotherhood, but this only serves to bring him closer to danger. When war in Italy calls, Casca travels to his homeland to fight against the Goths, but this only serves to take him away from his quarry. But fate and an outbreak of the plague brings him back to confront the leader and in turn puts him and the people he loves in greater jeopardy than before.
