An unbelievable debut novel, this Clancy masterpiece--with its authenticity and fast-paced story--got the author's career as a novelist off to a rousing start. Mesmerizing! ( )

I did not quite believe that I would enjoy a book about submarines, but I enjoyed the film and thought I would give the book a try. It took me by surprise, I really enjoyed the story and the technical details were not such that they detracted from the enjoyment of the story. Now I want to watch the film again. ( )

Very cleverly written and one of the few books i re-read several times as its perfect. ( )

This is a gripping military thriller that began Tom Clancy's career and one of his first books with the Jack Ryan character. A top-secret Russian submarine has gone missing and they want her back. The Americans also want her. Technically realistic with a great deal of description this book takes you through a thrilling cat and mouse chase. ( )
