Fans of Basil Copper will know that his early books dealt with the irrepressible LA detective Mike Faraday. No flowers for the General sees Faraday in great form as he finds the usual parade of unexplained who-dunnits, beautiful and alluring girls all set in the familiar background of Los Angeles and surrounds. It's pretty harmless stuff, and not to be taken seriously. Basil Copper keeps the action going as we learn all about Mudville, a small Californian town with more than a few secrets. In my opinion, good entertainment from yesteryear. ( )
