I find myself conflicted after completing this book. I would think a hardcore Sherlock Holmes fan, or should I say Arthur Conan Doyle fan, would not like this book in the least bit. A casual fan of Holmes, or Doyle, would find this book to be interesting and I must say that I enjoyed reading it and looked forward to reading the next story. Then again, I was slightly disturbed by reading Holmes being put into situations that were so, how should I put it, unHolmeslike(?). Ultimately if I read this book before I read the complete Sherlock Holmes anthology, I think I would have enjoyed it much more. The writers who contributed to this anthology are all excellent story tellers, but they would probably be better served leaving well enough alone and concentrating on their own characters. It is kind of like remaking an already classic movie, it might show well standing on its own, but when compared to its predecessor, it just seems to come up short. ( )

Two stories brilliant (Neil Gaiman's, the slash one), some stories good, some stories so-so, one story horrible. ( )
