Loading... A Coyote Solstice Taleby Thomas King
![]() None No current Talk conversations about this book. This book is recommended for secondary students. This book depicts a coyote and other animals as they meet a human girl, and the interactions in the mall that follow. ( ![]() This is a cute story by a Native author. It almost has an anti-consumerist message, but it stumbles a bit when the problem is paying for things instead of the things themselves. This is an updated native American morality tale, it teaches readers that people and relationships are more precious than objects. A quick read, this silly tale starts out like a trickster story but ends up as a polemic against consumerism. It could make a fun read-aloud because it's written in verse, but the story line palls. Because I didn't really enjoy the book, I couldn't come up with an interesting curricular connection. Poetry, maybe? Here you'll read a story of a little girl pretending to be a reindeer who stumbles into a Christmas party at coyote's house. Together they bring the little girl back to 'civilization' and in the meantime make a trip to the mall which is overcrowded with Christmas shoppers. They buy some things, then return to make dinner and hang out. no reviews | add a review
